Size–velocity dispersion relation for GMAs in NGC 1316 (red circles) and M83 (blue filled squares) identified by PYCPROPS. The blue open squares denote “sensitivity-degraded” M83 data, where the SoFiA 2 S/N threshold was increased to 40 to mimic the tenfold lower sensitivity of the NGC 1316 data. While the majority of M83 GMAs cluster at σ < 15 km s−1 (with a few reaching ∼30 km s−1), NGC 1316 shows a systematic shift toward higher dispersions, characterized by a notable absence of the low-dispersion population seen in M83. All analyses are based on data with a spatial resolution of ∼100 pc and a velocity resolution of 5 km s−1.
