We assess the LDEM elevation and slope uncertainty maps by normalizing the SDEM–LDEM residuals with the corresponding pixel-wise LDEM clone-based uncertainties. If these uncertainties are representative, the resulting ratios should follow a unit Gaussian (dashed red). The elevation residuals are better described by a broader Gaussian with σ = 1.4 (dashed green), indicating that LDEM elevation uncertainties are underestimated by ∼40%, whereas the slope uncertainties are reasonably consistent with the residuals (σ ≈ 0.9). Counts beyond the x-axis limits are accumulated in the outermost bins.
