Normalized histograms showing the offset between q calculated by MMb and Mσ (﹩{q}_{\bullet ,{\,{\rm{M}}\,}_{b}}/{q}_{\bullet ,\sigma }﹩) for individual close pairs of galaxies. Panel (a) uses the MMb and Mσ from N. J. McConnell & C.-P. Ma (2013), and panel (b) uses the MMb and Mσ from J. Kormendy & L. C. Ho (2013). The dashed line at 1 indicates perfect agreement, and the solid line indicates the median of the offset distribution. The 16th and 84th percentiles of the distributions are also given, with the K-S statistic and p-value between the distributions in panels (a) and (b) shown in the upper-right corner of panel (b). The MMb scaling relations predict mass ratios closer to 1:1 compared to Mσ.
