V magnitude as a function of time for 14 outbursts from 2M 0518−05. A possible quiescent level (V = 17.2) is shown (green dashed line), as well as the detections (filled circles) and upper limits (blue arrows). Time is given in days since 2014 January 1. Many outbursts may have lasted a similar time to a magnetically induced stellar flare (1 hr), but the light curve of 2M 0518−05 also features a few multiday outbursts that are most likely related to accretion events.
