Measured midplane turbulent pressure P _turb of the diffuse gas relative to the vertical momentum flux injected by star formation P _driv, as a function of Σ _SFR. The points and error bars give the mean and standard deviations over t/ t _orb = 2–3 for each model. The dotted line with a slope of −0.17 gives the best fit. The result P _turb ~ P _driv indicates that turbulent driving is consistently balanced by dissipation on approximately a vertical crossing time, even though both terms vary by more than two orders of magnitude as Σ _SFR changes.
