Measured midplane turbulent pressure P turb of the diffuse gas relative to the vertical momentum flux injected by star formation P driv, as a function of Σ SFR. The points and error bars give the mean and standard deviations over t/ t orb = 2–3 for each model. The dotted line with a slope of −0.17 gives the best fit. The result P turb ~ P driv indicates that turbulent driving is consistently balanced by dissipation on approximately a vertical crossing time, even though both terms vary by more than two orders of magnitude as Σ SFR changes.
