Direct comparison of agnspec, simulation spectra, and the observed composite optical–UV spectra of quasars from Z. Shang et al. (2011). The simulation spectrum shows no Ly edge, consistent with observations, but is underluminous and narrowly peaked as compared to the observed spectrum and agnspec for the same accretion rate.
