Selection steps used to construct the SDSS/WISE merger parent sample. Starting from Galaxy Zoo DR1 and CatWISE2020, we select highly disturbed mergers with red WISE colors, reliable WISE photometry, and significant SDSS/WISE positional offsets (0﹩\mathop{.}\limits^{{\unicode{x02033}}}﹩15 < offset < 1﹩\mathop{.}\limits^{{\unicode{x02033}}}﹩5). The final parent sample contains 194 systems for which the observed SDSS/WISE angular offset corresponds to a projected physical separation ≲1 kpc, computed individually using each galaxy’s redshift. The parent sample spans 0.0002 < z < 0.2438.
