Rendering of the same set of loops as in Figure 16 but viewed from the side. Note, again, the characteristic flat loop tops and the elongated brightening at the loop tops (close-up #1). Note also (close-up #2) how the selection bias highlights loops that expand less in the projection (those in close-up #2 that go from the top left to the bottom middle in close-up #2) compared with those that expand more in the projection and are narrower along the l.o.s. (which go from the bottom left to the top right in the close-up frame). All of these synthetic loops have the same size and shape at the base.
