Absolute magnitudes in the F814W filter as a function of age for simulated solar-metallicity clusters at four fiducial masses. The left panel shows the total integrated flux, while the right panel shows only the unresolved flux contained in stars fainter than the magnitude cutoff at M lim = −3. Thirty clusters are plotted for each age. The clusters in the right panel exhibit much less spread in magnitude at a given age and mass, since the most luminous, rapidly evolving stars are excluded.
