Example spectra of [O iii]-detected Hα dots taken using the MDM 2.4 m telescope. The upper (Hα dot 19) and lower (Hα dot 59) spectra are of star-forming galaxies, while the middle spectrum (Hα dot 21) is a Seyfert 2 galaxy. Hα dot 21 is the object indicated in the upper left portion of the images shown in Figure 1.
