Global rms residuals of MOND rotation curve fits. The radial axis is the magnitude of the residual, while the azimuthal angle is assigned randomly to each object to distribute them about the plot. Each filled circle represents one galaxy. In (a), all available data are used, a total of 74 galaxies. In (b), the data are restricted to individual data points within each galaxy with velocities measured to better than 5% accuracy. Fourteen galaxies have no data that satisfy this criterion, leaving 60. For these 60 galaxies, the one‐parameter MOND fits to the best data are very good.
