Images cleaned using donut template subtraction with hole size h = 40 and dough width d = 10 prior to SEP background subtraction (as the SEP background model subtracts large parts of the large-scale features that we want to show here). The shown images are at 25 image (∼12.5 hr) intervals, covering the last 200 images (100.5 hr) of this sector. The bright tails of comet 46P/Wirtanen can be seen sweeping across the field of view as a straight line (ion tail) and wimsy clouds (dust tail). Slight dark bands can also be seen; these correspond to the negative “ears” caused by the donut template (because the template contains some amount of the signal of the tails at different times. The bright artifact in the top center of some of the images is caused by the brightest star in the field having a slight variability. The patterns change gradually in the intermediate images. A 21 s animation of the last 208 images of this sector is available. In the animation, one can also easily see many bright moving solar system objects. Pixel values are in electrons per second. A single color scale was used for all panels/frames, with the parameters chosen to be close to the average “z-scale” parameter of all 1108 images.
