Composite visual (F555W) or white-light (F350LP) Cepheid light curves binned by period (upper) and compared with individual MW Cepheids near the middle period of the bin. The “Hertzsprung progression” (relation between light-curve shape and period) is apparent, including subtle features like the progression in phase of a resonance “bump” between the second overtone and fundamental pulsation for P < 20 days. The red line is a cubic spline constrained by the averages of bins in phase.
