Normalized TPD profiles of MF in mixed and layered ice systems. (a) MF codeposited with H2O compared with 1.0 ML MF deposited as a layer on top of 50 ML of ASW. (b) MF codeposited with amorphous CH3OH compared with 1.0 ML of MF deposited as a layer on top of 50 ML of amorphous CH3OH. The H2O-containing ices show a strong dependence on deposition geometry, with enhanced retention of MF to the H2O-desorption temperature in the mixed ice. In contrast, the mixed and layered CH3OH profiles are nearly identical and exhibit both a low-temperature, multilayer-like MF feature and a higher-temperature feature associated with CH3OH crystallization.
