Velocity channel maps illustrating the impact of spectral resolution on the spatial–kinematic structure of CGM emission. Channel maps of Hα emission from the Maelstrom halo at z = 0.5 are shown for two different kinematic resolutions. The maps are generated for an edge-on view of the galaxy, with the H I disk removed. All panels use the same projection, spatial extent, and color scale, and are computed at the native simulation spatial resolution of 0.183 kpc. The left column shows emission integrated over large velocity bins (Δv = 180 km s−1 ) while the right panels show emission in narrower velocity channels (Δv = 30 km s−1) subdividing the same total velocity interval.
