Semianalytical Accretion-tracer Emission: Forming Planets Are Intrinsically Faint

  • Authors: Gabriel-Dominique Marleau

Caption: Figure 9.

Accretion temperature 〈Tacc〉 as set by the rate ﹩{\dot{M}}_{{\rm{p}},\,{\rm{direct}}}﹩ shocking on the surface of the planet (open circles), compared to the interior temperature Tint in the population synthesis (open diamonds). Point colors show ﹩{\dot{M}}_{\,\rm{pop synth}\,}﹩ as in the other plots, but we omit the two weakest accretor bins in gray. The Tint of the strongest accretors could not be calculated (see the text), but this leaves unchanged the conclusion that Tint ≫ 〈Tacc〉 for each planet.
