Analysis pipeline employed in the present work. Exoplanet reflectance time series, recorded for different wavelength bands, are the input data to our process (either from the DSCOVR mission for Earth, or the EMM for Mars). These time series are normalized and discretized before being analyzed by several methods: we use epsilon-machine reconstruction to compute the statistical complexity and entropy rate, we compute Shannon entropy using the standard formula, and use zip file compression to compute the zip compressibility ratio. The joint differential entropy is calculated according to the method presented in G. Segal et al. (2024).
