Injection recovery at T = 300 K. Each point is a synthetic galaxy: host MIR continuum (E/Sbc/SB family) plus an injected T = 300 K blackbody of bolometric luminosity L wh, integrated through the W3/W4 RSRs, with Gaussian noise and detection vs. nondetection logic (cap at k, with threshold at k U ). The recovered value is obtained by mapping the per band caps to bolometric and taking the tighter of W3/W4. Points lie on the 1:1 line at high L wh (unbiased recovery), while at low L wh the recovered values are set by the cap floor and the unsubtracted host continuum, yielding conservative upper limits.
