Comparison of the IR spectra of C9NH and different sizes of CnH2 (n = 2, 4, 6, 8, 10) polyynes. Polyynes of all lengths are characterized by an IR-active C–H stretching mode at λ ∼ 3 μm, and an IR-active CCH/CCC bending mode at λ ∼ 16 μm. In C2H2, the bending mode appears at λ ∼ 13 μm.
