Calculated spin densities (isovalue 0.005 e/Å³) of (a) Fe₁₃ (M_s = 45), (b) Fe₁₃–C₂H₂ (M_s = 41), and (c) Fe₁₃–(C₂H₂)₆ (M_s = 35). Vermilion represents up (﹩\uparrow ﹩) and sky blue represents down (﹩\downarrow ﹩) spins. The down (﹩\downarrow ﹩) spin-density localized on the central Fe atom in the Fe₁₃ cluster is delocalized on the carbon atoms of C₂H₂ in Fe₁₃–C₂H₂ and Fe₁₃–(C₂H₂)₆.
