Thermal emission in the 3–6 keV passband as calculated by the CHIANTI database (Dere et al. 1997; Landi & Phillips 2006). The nonlinear nature of the emission as a function of temperature is what gives rise to the increased thermal 3–6 keV at the γ _PA = 4 flare's apex as it reaches its temperature peak.
