Comparison of N‐body spectra with analytical fitting formulae. The dotted curves show the dimensionless power Δ(k) = 4πk3P(k) plotted against the linear power on wavenumber kL, as described in § 4.1. The curves are obtained from the N‐body spectrum of simulation A at the same times as in Fig. 1. The solid curve is the fitting formula of Jain et al. (1995) as given in eq. (10), and the dashed curve is from the fitting formula of Peacock & Dodds (1996). The upper dotted line shows the slope predicted by the stable clustering hypothesis, while the lower dotted line is the linear theory relation.
