Scheme of the nanoindentation filtering method for a discarded measurement. Left: discarded nanoindentation curve. The gray part of the curve shows the loading curve, which is the one analyzed in the filtering algorithm. Right: applied load (L) vs. the derivative of the depth with respect to the load (dh/dL). When a pop-in occurs during the measurement, an increase in dh/dL is observed. The horizontal dashed red line shows the load at which the disqualifying pop-in occurs. The vertical dashed red line shows the median value of the last n = 20 points. Since the value dh/dL at that point is higher than 10 times the median of the last 20 points, this measurement is discarded (Equation (A1)).
