Crater counting in an outlined portion of the candidate VIPER traverse area (pink). To compare this study to manual counts by coauthor Beyer, we filter both counts to sizes 6–250 m. Craters in green were detected by both approaches, yellow were detected by this study only, and craters in red were detected by Beyer only. As is normal in crater comparisons (e.g., S. J. Robbins et al. 2014), a number of true positives detected by one method were missed by the other. However, the differential SFD determined for the count area using both methods overlaps closely between 15 and 250 m (especially between 15 and 50 m), suggesting strong agreement between counting methods. Plot made using CraterStats (G. G. Michael 2013).
