Ωp in a v5 retrograde model (MAD, a* = −0.5, i = 30∘, Rhigh = 160) as a function of different emission masks. Left: we only include emission within Δθjet of the z (jet) axis. Right: we only include emission within Δθdisk of the midplane. When Δθjet = Δθdisk = 90∘, we plot the mean Ωp from all emission. Black hole diagrams in the top-left and bottom-right corners illustrate Δθjet and Δθdisk. As Δθjet decreases, we filter for jet emission only and, thus, see counterrotation (Ωp < 0 for i = 30∘). Jet counterrotation is a fundamental prediction of the Blandford–Znajek jet-launching mechanism when a* < 0.
