Calculated yield of escaping 30–100 keV neutrons (before losses due to neutron decay) as a function of the accelerated-ion power-law spectral index for coronal accelerated-ion composition, accelerated 3He/4He = 0, and α/proton = 0.1. The yields are shown for two values of ψn, the angle between the neutron direction and the normal to the solar surface at the flare. Panel (a) is for several values of magnetic convergence δ, all for no PAS (﹩\lambda \to \infty ﹩). Panel (b) is for several values of PAS λ, all for δ = 0.2. All yields are normalized to Np(>30 MeV) = 1.
