Map of the column density of the intermediate‐velocity gas in a large region to the south of the Perseus arm. This map represents the H I column density in the LAB data of Kalberla et al. (2005) integrated between deviation velocities ﹩v_{\mathrm{dev}\,}=-60﹩ and −30 km s⁻¹. Contours are at column densities of ﹩1\times 10^{19}﹩, ﹩2\times 10^{19}﹩, and ﹩4\times 10^{19}﹩ cm⁻². The box outlines the region shown in Figs. 2 and 4.
