(Top) Integrated band area of the C–H bending mode between 670 and 710 cm−1 as a function of time during a typical Scrit experiment, here shown at T = 156.8 K. The shaded areas represent the succession of steps needed to grow ice and reach equilibrium conditions. (Bottom) Pressure (Torr) and sample temperature (K). Benzene vapor was first introduced at 16 minutes and increased in steps approximately every 1–4 minutes. At 30 minutes, the flow rate was reduced to enable the determination of equilibrium conditions.
