Mg concentration in lizardite as a function of soak time in HPLC H2O (solid circles), high-purity acetone (open triangle), and high-purity isopropyl alcohol (closed square). Prior to soaking, we irradiated each sample with 1.0 × 1017 He+ cm−2. Each data point reflects the average final Mg concentration from all repeated experiments. Error bars reflect the standard error calculated from repeated experiments, while the shaded gray bar represents the range of measured Mg concentrations before and after irradiation. For the soaking experiments in HPLC H2O, we have included a fitted curve (red dotted line) to guide the eye.
