Radial component of plasma velocity. The radial component of plasma velocity shown here is mapped using an optical flow analysis of the DEB image sequence. The solar corona appears as a background grayscale image, and the radial velocity is not calculated in a region near the lunar limb or near the edges of the field of view. This new type of observation can be compared with the predicted radial flow from coronal models such as Y. Li et al. (2026). A qualitative comparison with that work shows agreements with the observed north polar downflow (TP), the mixture of flows in the inner regions of this figure, and the outflows in the SW (SW) and NW (NW) regions. The strong flow above the E limb (TF) is likely from a transient flow event not addressed by the model.
