Representative lunar external magnetic enhancement observed by Lunar Prospector (R. P. Lin et al. 1998). Magnetic field magnitude (|B|) measured on 1998 February 28 shows four magnetic pulses in four of the five orbits, as the spacecraft passes over the same lunar-surface region. The marked interval (blue bar) highlights one enhancement with a steep upstream rise and gradual downstream decay, characteristic of a shock-like profile. This event provides the typical morphology of the shock-like EME for comparison with our simulations and serves as the reference case that links observations and modeling.
