Comparison of the core helium-burning phase for a solar model from YREC (dark blue) with and without overshooting, matched to the core masses of PARSEC v2.0 (red; top) and MESA (pink; bottom). Note that MESA and PARSEC predict slightly different core masses: 0.443M and 0.469M, respectively, though most of the lifetime differences in the top and bottom panels are due to the difference in helium ingestion due to overshooting. A significant core breathing pulse is observed at ≈80 Myr in the no-overshooting case. The evolution of the region outside the convective core in horizontal branch models even with similar treatments can differ.
