Rest-frame U − V vs. V − J for our JWST sample having stellar masses M_* > 10¹⁰ M_⊙ and lying in the full redshift interval z = 1.5–5.5 (top), z = 3–4 only (middle), and z = 4–5.5 only (bottom). We show the R. J. Williams et al. (2009) strict selection of quiescent galaxies with solid lines and the F. Valentino et al. (2023) padded selection with dashed lines. We show sources that satisfy the strict selection with blue diamonds, except for luminous LRDs, which we show as red circles.
