FWHM vs. demagnified rest-frame luminosity at 1.22 μm for our JWST sample with Lν(1.22 μm) > 1028 erg s−1 Hz−1 over the full redshift interval z = 1.5–5.5 (small black circles). We mark compact sources with FWHM ﹩\lt 0\mathop{.}\limits^{^{\prime\prime} }172﹩ with large open diamonds. We mark galaxies that satisfy our red selection (fJ/fV > 3) as follows: sources with >4.5σ ALMA detections (see Table 1) with filled purple squares, LRDs (J. E. Greene et al. 2024; D. D. Kocevski et al. 2025; I. Labbe et al. 2025) with filled red circles, and other red galaxies with filled black squares. The vertical line shows Lν(1.22 μm) = 3.6 × 1029 erg s−1 Hz−1, which corresponds to a stellar mass of M = 1010 M.
