Sample pre-explosion subtractions of deep PTF/iPTF references from ZTF science images stacked in 3 days bins (see Section 2.4). Each cutout is centered on the location of SN2018gep. The subtractions show clear emission at the location of the SN in both g and r bands days to weeks before the discovery of the SN in ZTF.
