Example astrometric velocity points for Gliese 229 A showing how the long-term trend between Gaia and Hipparcos is resolved into finer time sampling with the addition of the DR2 and DR3–DR2 points. The horizontal lines indicate the time baseline of each measurement, with the centrally propagated epochs marked by points. Labels along the top axis indicate the source of each point. This smooth long-term motion is attributable to the Gliese 229 Ba/Bb brown dwarf companion on a wide orbit (B. R. Oppenheimer et al. 1998; J. W. Xuan et al. 2024).
