A projection of the South Pole Wall in celestial coordinates. A major feature of the wall lies in the direction of the terrestrial South Pole. The plane of the Milky Way is shown by a dust map in shades of gray. The curves that parallel the plane are at b = ±10°. Major features are labeled, including the proximity of the Shapley Supercluster on the opposite side of the zone of obscuration and the apex of the cosmic microwave background temperature dipole.
