Ultraviolet spectra of HE 0557−4840 (from the present work) and CD−38° 245 (from Bessell et al. 2004), which have T _eff/log g/[Fe/H]/[C/H] = 4900/2.2/−4.8/+1.7 and 4900/2.0/−4.0/−1.0, respectively (1D abundances). The vertical lines mark the positions of relatively strong OH lines, while the strong feature at ~3144 Å in the spectrum of HE 0557−4840 is due to CH. See the text for discussion.
