Comparison of the combined VLT/UVES spectra observed in 2006 and 2007 with synthetic spectra for nitrogen abundances of log epsilon (N) = −9.99 (i.e., no nitrogen), 3.5, 4.0, and 4.5. We conservatively adopt log epsilon (N) < 4.0 as the upper limit for the nitrogen abundance of HE 0557−4840.
