Absolute magnitude vs. the cumulative number of all known trans-Neptunian objects (solid line). The absolute magnitudes for the largest objects appear overly bright since these objects have much higher albedos than most smaller KBOs. Squares show the absolute magnitudes that the largest KBOs would have if their albedos were 0.15 and not around 0.7 as has been found for Eris, Pluto, Makemake, and Haumea. Squares also show the absolute magnitudes the moderately sized KBOs would have if their albedos were not around 0.25 but 0.15 for Sedna, 2007 OR10, Orcus, and Quaoar (Stansberry et al. 2008).
