Examples of the field lines, which reconnect below the flux rope. The bold arrows denote the forces acting on the field lines. The pinching of the field lines is the result of the magnetic pressure force and pushes in and reconnects the field lines. The reconnected field lines then form arcades below the quasi separatrix layer or dipped field lines above, which then push the flux rope outward.
