Black hole mass–stellar velocity dispersion relation ( M_BH‐σ relation measurements for galaxies produced by the remerging of disk galaxy merger remnants that obey the local M_BH‐σ relation (e.g., Tremaine et al. 2002; solid line). While the number of remergers examined is limited, a single generation of dissipationless mergers after the initial formative gas‐rich mergers that generate the M_BH‐σ relation is not expected to strongly alter the observed M_BH‐σ relation but may be a source of scatter.
