Ratio of the arithmetic mean difference spectrum (top panel of Fig. 10) to the arithmetic mean single‐epoch spectrum (top panel of Fig. 11). Larger values of this ratio indicate a more variable portion of the spectrum. There appears to be a break near 2500 Å, below which the variability increases. The dips at the locations of the emission lines indicate that the lines are considerably less variable than the continuum.
