Two presentations of galaxy SDSS J140831−000737 to highlight its unusual structure. Left: Combined SDSS g, r, i image with the isophotal selection level superposed. This image is plotted with relative low‐ and high‐intensity levels of −1 and 100 σ, respectively. Spiral arms in the central, "inner" disk are clearly recognizable on the combined image, as are bulge and barlike structures. Right: Same image plotted, but with relative low‐ and high‐intensity values of −1 and 5 σ. Patchy outer spiral arms can be clearly seen at this level of contrast. Previous studies missed the "outer disk" visible in the SDSS data and detected only the inner portion of this galaxy.
