Dependence of the number of spurious and undetected objects due to deblending errors as a function of magnitude for the optimal values of the SExtractor parameters DEBLEND_MINCONT = 0.025 and DEBLEND_NTHRESH = 16 (see text). We also show how using different values, e.g., DEBLEND_MINCONT = 0.01 and DEBLEND_NTHRESH = 32 leaves almost unaffected the number of undetected galaxies, but more than doubles the number of spurious objects, significantly changing the normalization and shape of the number count distribution.
