Location of the termination shock near the ecliptic (top), yearly average wind speed at 1 AU (center), and sunspot number (bottom). The filled square and error bars indicate the ACR‐derived distance. During the declining phases of the solar cycle, high‐speed winds were observed lasting 2–4 yr, and the shock moved outward. During the rising phases and during the solar maximums, low‐speed winds were observed and the shock moved inward.
