Dynamic spectra of C III λ1175 on 1999 October 22 totaled in 10 s bins. Small precursor flares occurred before the bright event at 05:28 UT where both increased flux and redshifted emission are found. Gaps in data are due to SAA passages. The feature showing diurnal variation at λ1168 is second‐order scattered solar He I.
