Contours of the self‐lensing optical depth of the LMC are shown. Both panels show the effect of variation of the mass fractions in the shroud ﹩f_{s}﹩ and veil ﹩f_{v}﹩, assuming ﹩h_{s}/ h_{d}=10﹩ and ﹩h_{v}/ h_{d}=20﹩ with ﹩h_{d}=300﹩ pc. The left panel assumes an inclination angle of ﹩27^{\circ }﹩, the right panel an inclination of ﹩45^{\circ }﹩. The observational estimate of the optical depth of ﹩2.1\times 10^{-7}﹩ is shown, together with the 1 σ and 2 σ contours.
