Detection probability maps (contours of 30%, 68%, and 90%) for JWST observations, for the star HIP 65426: the green shows AMI in the F380M filter and the gray dashed lines show coronagraphy in the F356W filter. JWST/AMI reaches close-in separations when compared to coronagraphy at similar wavelengths, probing an essentially unexplored parameter space.
