Contrast vs. separation sensitivity curves showing the KLIP reduction optimized for disks (in dotted–dashed blue), KLIP reduction optimized for planets (in dotted magenta), nonnegative matrix factorization (NMF) reduction (in solid purple), and the photon limit (in thick solid gray). We note that the KLIP subtraction optimized for planets has the best contrast under 1″, but the NMF curve has the best contrast overall.
